There is no better feeling than standing back and taking in all the beauty of a wedding after months of brainstorming, client meetings, a full week of designing and hours of setup. It is one of the most rewarding feelings and the reason why I love what I do! But to relive it again through gorgeous pictures from Justin & Mary and then to find out it was featured in the Style Me Pretty 2013 Fashion and Beauty E-Mag is the the ultimate honor!
This gorgeous wedding was the epitome of romance: castle-like mansion setting overlooking the water, blush pink peonies and white lilacs everywhere, headwreaths on all the girls, silver and gold accents, candelabras, sequins and a stunning bride and groom, doesn’t get much better than this!
This wedding took place at the Branford House in mid-May. It was right at the height of Spring flowers: Ranunculus, Lilacs, Peonies, Sweet Peas, Tulips, flowering branches and Azaleas were seen throughout the wedding. The bride wore a sweet head piece of all Spray and Tea Roses and all the bridesmaids wore ethereal Baby’s Breath head pieces.
Overflowing mercury glass vases of Peonies, Lilacs, Sweet Peas, Ranunculus, Garden Roses, Tulips, Jasmine Vines sat on Ivory silk linens, silver urns were filled with Azaleas and other other flowering branches and placed throughout the mansion. The placecard table featured a stunning gold sequin linen topped with a branched flower and Hydrangea arrangement with placecards each hand stamped by the bride. The enormous mantel featured Hydrangea, Peonies and other Spring blooms, Mercury Glass candles and long crystal strands provided by the bride were added for more drama.
This Summer has flown by and I haven’t had a chance to blog once!! This has been our busiest season yet and as soon as I finish one event I am on to the next causing my blog to suffer…Here is a few snippets of some of the events we have been working on this exciting season, more to come once the pro pictures come in!
One of my all time favorite weddings was in late August of 2011 on the day Hurricane Irene hit and I have never posted the wedding in it’s entirety. It was a gorgeous affair at the Florence Griswold Museum. Held overlooking the river in a Sperry Tent with hung chandeliers from Ryans Design. Candice of Jubilee Events coordinated and styled the event. Amazing photographs by a collaboration of the talented Carl Ten Eyck and Lisa Berry.
With the impending Hurricane the wedding was moved up several hours to avoid any dangerous weather. The ceremony was moved indoors into the art gallery at the museum. A runner of lush garden blooms–Cafe Au Lait Dahlias, Spray Roses, Garden Roses and Dusty Miller lined the aisle.
So many beautiful details from this wedding! Here are a few of my favorites…
Under the tent Juliet Garden Roses took center stage in a mix of smooth ceramic, slate and cement containers. Succulents, Passion Vines, and fresh Peaches helped to add lots of textures to the tablescapes.
Last June we designed a backyard wedding featuring late Spring blooms of Peonies, Anemones and Scabiosa in shades of Mauves and Pinks with deep eggplant accents. The bride was inspired by fabric she found at Pottery Barn and made table runners for each guests table from the material. This colors scheme flowed through the entire event. The amazingly gorgeous Peony is now coming into season. I know it seems that this is everyone’s favorite flower, but I have to admit I never tire of the Peony and it always takes my breath away. Now that Peony season is starting up I thought a post all about these stunning blooms would get us in the Spirit of Spring!
Almost 5 years ago we designed a gorgeous wedding at Water’s Edge Resort in Westbrook. It was a perfect Spring day in mid May and it was one of the highlights of my 2008 season! Denise Cregier captured this wedding gorgeously! I loved every bloom used for this wedding! It still makes me swoon when I look back through these pictures…
The Chuppah was covered in Lemon Leaf with dogwood branches tucked in. A spray of Garden Roses, Veronia, Dahlias, Peonies and other blooms were lushly arranged to create a beautiful focal point over the bride and groom.
Last May we designed the flowers for the rehearsal dinner of one of our bride and groom’s at the Penfield Pavillion in Fairfield. Galvanized tin buckets, Hydrangeas and SeaGrass, and lobster bibs set the tone for the New England Clambake theme. The event was coordinated by Jubilee Events, photographed by Bruce Plotkin Photography and the fun papergoods were designed by Coral Pheasant.
Glitter, Mercury Glass, Pinks, Peaches and Golds were the theme of this bridal shower. Garden Roses, Ranunculus, Poppies, Tulips and Olive Branches were used in these fun arrangements designed in glittered and mercury glass vases.
